Heating & Cooling Website Design
I created this heating and cooling website years ago using an older version of the Joomla content management system for Scott Gauthier. I upgraded it to a newer version, because it still suits the customer’s needs. The website requires minimal annual maintenance and will be migrated to WordPress when need be.
Gauthier Heating & Cooling is located in Black River, MI. It is a typical brick and mortar small business. They use the website to show customers the products and services they offer, for example with the many galleries of their work.
The most important part of this heating & cooling website design is the contact information, which is displayed in the upper left column on every page. This makes it easy for people to find, should their furnace quit working in one of the cold northern Michigan winters day or night.
Their business model does not include online automated services or Ecommerce. Many people don’t casually browse heating & cooling websites. However, if they know they are going to need to replace or repair their furnace, air conditioner, or fireplace soon, they can read about it. Dynamic or Static?
I think of small business websites like Gauthier Heating & Cooling as online brochures, because they provide mostly static content and contact information. They have just enough pictures, videos, and verbiage to satisfy the curiosity of many visitors. If they’re interested, they’ll pick up the phone and call for an in-home appointment, quote, or to ask more questions.
In this regard, the website is not dynamic. There’s no blog posts or videos to be added daily. Since there is no dedicated person available to manage an online chat program or daily content, it just needs to have basic information about their products and services. Many inquiries come through email as well from their contact page. This also keeps the cost down of annual maintenance to a minimum.
