Auto Racing Website Maintenance

Must See Racing (a Winged Sprint Car Racing Series) is my oldest website, originally custom coded, rebuilt in Joomla, and later upgraded with a newer version of Joomla. MSR has gone through many changes with their business model over the years, which have dictated changes to the website. I’ve offered auto racing website maintenance for individual drivers, race teams, and series since MSR was launched. The site will be migrated to WordPress in the future (Check out the new design post).

MSR began as an auto racing website that promoted the sport through other racing series and race tracks. After a few years everything changed. Owner Jim Hanks created an entirely new racing series – MSR Xtreme. The series features winged sprint cars in what is known as short track racing. The series is the second most watched in the country, second only to NASCAR.

Whether an individual race car driver or an race car series, one of the most important aspects of your website is to give your sponsors exposure. Showcase your Sponsors! Keeping this in mind, every page of the website highlights the sponsors. Sponsor logos and links to their websites are displayed throughout the website, making it easy for visitors to view their products and services.

The MSR website has changed according to its business goals and objectives. A second racing series was added a couple years ago, which was dropped, then replaced with another that remains – Midwest Lights. There was a members only site, which hosted pay-to-view race videos. Basically, Jim tells me what he needs, and I figure out the best approach to creating and maintaining it.
